Hi everyone! FINALLY I have this video up and boy is it a long one! I could have cut some things out, but I really wanted to make sure it was thorough and I answered everyone’s potential questions. I know this was my biggest fear in doing tape ins…the removal – yikes! But, I think I have found some helpful products and tips for you…and I truly hope they work for you like they do for me!

One more thing I didn’t mention (I know surprisingly I did leave something out – lol)…is to remember that I am using Walker tape…and REMOVERS by Walker as well. It may be a good idea if you are not using Walker…to see if your tape manufacturer carries a removing solvent as well…since those removers are definitely designed to remove that particular tape. Ok, I think that’s all for now! Whew, I’m tired! haha See ya next week! πŸ™‚

  1. Lori Duncan says:

I also saw a video where the lady talking about the Weft Release said to warm up the bottle of solvent in warm water helps it work better, apply to ends first. Then she uses shampoo mixed with baking soda for removing excess solvent. I’m wondering then if maybe using raw apple cider vinegar (w/mother) might also be useful in breaking down the oil in the solution?

  2. ann doe says:

is it ok to just tape right back over the old tape ? Thank you

  3. Lori Duncan says:

Well, I picked up an applicator bottle today. What ill do is pour enough of the Weft Release in it for the removal process, then if there’s a little left just cap it off or pour back into the bottle. About the beach, you know it can get pretty breezy sometimes which an really tangle long hair. I’m predicting on those days ponies and braids will be a safe choice! πŸ™‚

  4. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Yes…definitely! I have VERY thin hair and they work great for me!

  5. DiiJiiGii says:

Would love to see more updos and other hairstyles with your tape in extensions. Thanks for all the great info! Hard to find someone doing DIY entensions who has straight, blonde, thin, fine hair (all things that make it hard to hide extensions!)

  6. Lori Duncan says:

I have super thin, fine blonde hair and used Christy’s method here and it works perfectly! It’s amazing how different this method is than clipins. I can wear ponytails and braids just fine with these in this way.

  7. Johnsie Gunter says:

girl… kudos to you. I am a hairstylist and educator of 15+ years.. Good job!

  8. Jenny Vu says:

you’re the most informative person i’ve found on youtube that i could rely on for specifically tape in extensions. thank you!

  9. Nini Girl says:

This has to be the best extension video on Youtube!! I saw the first one and was hooked!!! You are very detailed and I love it!!! I have been wanting to do Hair Extension for years, I bought the clip in and love them but swimming is an issue. This solves the problem!! I am a DIY’er with EVERYTHING. I could totally relate to you. Just bought your tape, by the way!

  10. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Such a sweet comment!!! Thank you!! Can’t wait to hear how it turns out for you! I just posted a new video a few minutes ago and I talk a lil about swimming in it too! πŸ™‚

  11. TheThekonstancja1 says:

Your videos are great inspirations! I never thought tape on hair could be so cheap and easy !

  12. 52weeksofbeauty says:

HAHA!! Ur sillly! Thank you sooooo much!! Means a lot to me to hear that!! πŸ™‚

  13. Lori Duncan says:

That’s a fact, if we all did an experiment and put all the hair from our combs and brushes alone, in a Baggie (I know sounds gross) and collect it for a month, you’d be shocked how much falls out or gets brushed out. That’s not including what ends up down the drain. My hair grew and felt better!

  14. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Yes, so true! Thx Lori!! πŸ™‚

  15. Mer569 says:

Hi! Thanks for all of your great videos! I am going to try to make my own tape extensions soon. I have microbead wefts and love them but they slip a lot and I am constantly having to have them moved up. What I need to know is whether you are able to color your hair while extensions are in. Have you made any videos on this?

  16. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Hi! I have not done a video on this – but I did try it on my own. Here is what happened: the part with the tape on it – does not get color. I first dyed my natural hair brown. I then put tape extensions in and tried to ombre my tape extensions dk brown at the top going lighter bn/dk blonde towards bottom. You could “see” the blonde part of the weft under the taped part peeking through, so I had to remove all the tape extensions. It’s better to color extensions/nat hair sep πŸ™‚

  17. hairladyjj says:

Where do you purchased your extension remover that you love, and also the tape that you use.

  18. 52weeksofbeauty says:

It is sold on eBay or Amazon! πŸ™‚

  19. Dana Zarina says:

Loved the P.S. part! πŸ˜€ Congrats on your engagement!

  20. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Thank you so much…it’s been so fun wedding planning!!! πŸ™‚

  21. Samantha Rae says:

Omg thank you so so much!!!!!! You are a huge lifesaver!

  22. Hailey Dawn says:

Hi love your channel! just wondering if tape damages the hair?

  23. Hailey Dawn says:

I’m really curious about getting tape but im a little nervous would you recommend getting them over clip-ins?

  24. Kathiana Johnson says:

    Congratulations on your engagement!!! πŸ™‚

  25. 52weeksofbeauty says:

    Thank you sooo much!! πŸ™‚

  26. 52weeksofbeauty says:

YAY!! That’s awesome to hear! πŸ™‚

  27. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Hi Hailey! Thank you! I do not think it damages your hair as long as you careful with removing the residue and use lots of conditioner. The tape comes out and stays in one piece and does not stay in your hair. And – yes I recommend them over clip ins if you have fine, thin hair. Clip ins always show through on me or are hard to cover in wind/athletic situations…

  28. banifufu trouty says:

I love weft release!! used it for the first time a week ago and it worked wonderfully. Thank you for sharing all ur info!

  29. reem qureshi says:

Hi thanks for this. will the product damage your hair? or did you have any breakage?

  30. Norma Carrillo says:

Can you put heat to the hair and curl/wave it if you wanted to?

  31. 52weeksofbeauty says:

YAY!! That’s awesome to hear – I love it so much too!!

  32. 52weeksofbeauty says:

No breakage. And no damage. This tape is awesome! You will have some shedding when you remove – but it is hair that you normally would shed anyway over the course of the weeks you have them in.

  33. 52weeksofbeauty says:

    Oh yes – 100%!

  34. Linda k Newwin says:

Some of my tape installs fell off after showering my hair like 2 days after applying. What am I doing wrong? ahh , has this happened to you? or does yours stay on for 2 months straight?

  35. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Tell me how you did it… What size weft and what size tape? Maybe your hair weft is too heavy for the width of tape you used? Or if you put ur hair up in a clip after getting it wet in the shower could be the reason? The first WEEK your tape in extensions are very fragile when wet. You have to treat them sooo gentle. Then after a week or so – they are SOLID in your hair…at least for me anyway.

  36. Linda k Newwin says:

Thanks for the quick reply! I have the 1/4 size type plus the wefts are about 1 – 2 inches each. I also am using the sandwich methods. I did use a clip in the showers too. Did that pull on it too much??

  37. Linda k Newwin says:

    Oops Tape*** not type

  38. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Maybe do the UN sandwich method with 3/8″ or 1/2″ tape strips/rolls? That is what I do and it works great. The 1/4″ is awesome bc it is so thin – but it is hard to work with. And – yes clips in the shower are not good for first week of tape ins… πŸ™

  39. anastone37 says:

Were did you by this products ? Do they sell them at Sally?

  40. 52weeksofbeauty says:

No, they do not sell them at Sally’s… eBay, Amazon and many other beauty websites.

  41. Regiane Gaasbeek says:

Hi, I can i just showering and wash my hair whit shampooing ? ans swimming whit tape exstions? now i have micro wave… i realy want to try tape exstions:)

  42. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Yes – you can definitely shower/shampoo/condition/swim and so on with these in!

  43. DiiJiiGii says:

How many times are you able to retape your miss flirty extensions before you need a new set? I imagine they wear faster if they are in constantly. Will they still last me about a year? Or six months? Less? How often to you change to a new set?

  44. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Yes – they do wear more than clip – ins bc they are shampooed/conditioned more. I use mine for 3-6 months, just bc I get antsy. You could go longer though – if you took really good care of them. Organix Coconut Milk Serum is by far the best trick I have found to making them last longer.

  45. DiiJiiGii says:

Amazon has mixed reviews on that products and some caveats about it discoloring blonde hair. Would love it if you could do a tutorial/review of your experience with the Organix Coconut Milk Serum. I’ve never heard of this type of strengthening process. Thanks!

  46. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Ok I will do a review on it for sure. It is not a strengthener – but more of a serum/conditioner… I think it makes them last longer bc it makes them super silky and soft πŸ™‚

  47. aprilapplelove says:

Hi, I had a question, I am from Belgium and I tried your given link to buy the brazilian hair shampoo and the shipping only was 43 dollars :/ And I couldn’t find the glue remover either… do you know other alternatives? And I wanted to buy clipextensions from hairextensionsale because it was alot cheaper, any idea if I can turn it into tape extension aswell? Thankyou very much, I hope you see this comment πŸ™‚

  48. DiiJiiGii says:

Why so much effort to remove all the sticky residue from the weft after the tape is removed? Won’t you just be adding new tape to it again? Is this just to make a totally fresh start with the process? Also wondering how close I can tape to my face and how high on the crown? I figure the tape is hidden by less hair than clips and I can go higher and closer to the face. Thank you so much for being patient with all my questions! I owe you gratitude cookies!!

  49. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Only that much effort to remove stickiness if someone is planning on using them for clip ins or some other method after they have used tape ins; or just a totally fresh start too. Plus – some of the Weft Release is on the sticky part – and rinsing that all off is smart, so it doesn’t loosen the tape the next go-around. Yes – you can def go higher with tape ins than clip ins. You can go as close to your face as you feel comfy with…but if you put your hair back at all, leave a lil room πŸ™‚

  50. jesica perez says:

I finally did it convinced and trusting your videos, I love it! Thank you soooo much, love Jes ❀.

  51. 52weeksofbeauty says:

WOOHOO!! Yay!! Love hearing that – thanks for letting me know! πŸ™‚

  52. Nina Divine says:

Ahhh! You are a total Godsend! Your video’s have been THE MOST helpfull informative video’s anywhere and I just want to say thank you thank you thank you! I am going to be taking all of your advise and going to town! πŸ™‚ I’m super excited! Muah!

  53. 52weeksofbeauty says:

AWWWWW – YAYYYY!!! You are SO SWEET! I am so glad I can help! Please keep me updated how it all goes for you!! πŸ™‚ xo!

  54. V GoGo says:

please make it easier to get name of tape and source??? am I missing the obvious?? intro has removers but not tape name

  55. 52weeksofbeauty says:

    Walker No Shine tape πŸ™‚

  56. 52weeksofbeauty says:

    eBay or Amazon

  57. kjonesey83 says:

Can you french braid your hair with with these in or can you see them

  58. SKitTLeSx4 says:

can the walker weft release be used on glued on hair extensions? I wanted 2 glue mine in instead of using tape

  59. Cloe Wy says:

you have been so informative thank you so much!!!

  60. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Yes – u certainly can without seeing them! πŸ™‚

  61. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Yes – it should work for that too!

  62. 52weeksofbeauty says:

You are SO welcome and thank you too Cloe for being so sweet!

  63. R Henry says:

I have always used clip in human hair extensions and have to take them out when I go to bed. Is the tape in extensions easier to sleep in than the clip ins? I am thinking about getting some but am afraid. You make it look so easy but where I live no one knows anything about putting them in or taking them out.

  64. R Henry says:

Are the tape ins bad for your hair?

  65. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Yes – WAY easier to sleep in. Almost like nothing is there!

  66. 52weeksofbeauty says:

I have had no issues – as long as you are careful at removing them – I have seen NO damage!

  67. R Henry says:

Thank you that makes me feel better! I have ordered some but I felt a little skeptical about them because of what I have read on the internet as far as hair damage, sleeping with them, and having a hard time due to where I live finding someone that knows how to put them in. What do you suggest to remove them that works best?

  68. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Walker Weft Release for sure! πŸ™‚

  69. R Henry says:

    Ok thank you so much!

  70. fairysa K says:

hi beauty :)) this is very awsome thank you very much for sharing !! this is axactly what i was looking for, easy and not expensive to do, and clipins have to put in out aaagh so time consuming and gleuing i didnt try yet but i find that is stickyer and more difficult to get all the gleu out and damages the hair, sooo this is the best solution i am very confident about this method, just doesnt it glide off easy when you are washing shampooing your hair?? thank you very much hugsssss<3

  71. Hailey Dawn says:

Tape ins are hands down the best ever. I love mine so far and your channel is the BEST as well! I could probably just watch your channel all day lol πŸ™‚

  72. N Agosto says:

Hi! I totally loved my taped in extensions BUT! when I removed them, some glue remained on my hair and it was a NIGHTMARE! just to remove that! I would love to go back to the extensions but I am afraid to lose more hair!!!??? what would you suggest?

  73. iselin jensby says:

hi ,when you take the tape and apply it on the hair extensions on both sides,do you remove the tape coverage of both sides or just one ..? and do you just lay it on the place of the hair you want it and just let the hair stick to it when you take down your hair ? cuz idk what you do to the hair to make the tape stick to the real hair of yours on both sides πŸ˜› ? sorry i cant english very well x)

  74. 52weeksofbeauty says:

You are such a sweetheart! Thank you sooooooooo sooper dooper much!!!

  75. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Not sure what brand you used…was it Walker tape? Did you use Weft Release to remove them? Then shampoo, baking soda and apple cider vinegar to remove residue like I did in my shower video? It will take 2-4 REALLY good washes before ALL of the residue comes out. It WILL all come out and it will NOT damage your hair as long as you are patient and very gentle. πŸ™‚

  76. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Hi! It doesn’t fall out when shampooing or conditioning – but you do have to be very gentle in the shower and when it’s wet. No pulling or hair clips or heavy towels to put your hair up when it is wet. The tape ins are very strong when hair is dry and not as strong when wet. But – if you are careful when it is wet – they will NOT fall out πŸ™‚ hugs back!!

  77. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Hi! I remove both sides of the backing off of the tape. And – yes I just lay it down and let it stick to my scalp line/hair and let my natural hair fall over it and stick to it too πŸ™‚

  78. Shirley Sherlock says:

Hi i live in the UK and i cant seem to get weft release but easier to get extension release by walker to. Have you tried this product at all?

  79. Shirley Sherlock says:

Ugh sorry stupid question its late lol, love your vids x

  80. 52weeksofbeauty says:

Not stupid! I sell Weft Release on eBay internationally under “twoplumsup” πŸ™‚

  81. Shirley Sherlock says:

haha you would not believe this but i actually bought some weft release and tape on ebay it came today only to find out it was from you!!! weird huh anyway wish me luck im going to install my first time ever tape extensions. eeek

  82. jessica king says:

I will have to try the weft release. I have been wearing tape in extensions for about a year and a half and have recently started having an allergic reaction to the C-22. When I in the shower and wash it out i end up with a red painful rash on my neck and back for the next day or two. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem.

  83. Alesya Kach says:

Just stumbled upon your videos and I’m so glad I did! I’ve used clip in extensions in the past and noticed my hair was thinning, either due to the extensions or to stress. So I gave the tape ones are try and fell in love. Just wanted to say thank u for all the info. You’re awesome! πŸ™‚

  84. lori sleboda says:

Just bought Tape in Hair Extensions!I haven’t put them in yet but soon.I have one important Question to ask before I put them in?? I usually have to dye my roots about every 3-4 weeks. Can I dye my roots with these Hair Extensions in! By the way your videos are the best…I’m so glad I found you! Happy Engagement also!

  85. Evangeline says:

I love your videos! I have hair just like yours, fine/thin, dry from color but oily scalp. I used microlinks and HATE them. They hurt to sleep in and the worst is you can totally see them if the wind blows. (Not so cute!) I stumbled upon your videos and ordered some hand tied wefts and walker tape and have them all prepared and ready to install (thank you for your video help!) as soon as I remove the micro links. I am a little nervous bc it is my first time with this type of install but feel pretty confident from all your videos. You are beautiful, sweet and really doing a great service for all of us girls who are looking to have lucious locks!

  86. Evelyn Gallarzo says:

hi i live in cali were can i by the tape.

  87. Lawanda Perthel says:

I have a question you’ve probably answered already but if you’re wearing the tape-ins and maybe one side of a weft gets loose what do you recommend to fix/repair this would messing up the other weft? Thanks!

  88. yangpny says:

hands down my tape in hair extension journey has been successful due to u. ty!

  89. Emily Anne says:

So glad that you recommended weft release. I had gotten a remover from Sally’s that was so awful I ended up ripping hair out and it took FOREVER. I finally got the Walker weft release and it was 10 times easier and quicker. Thanks so much!

  90. Brittany Amaya says:

Can yuhh buy the tape at your local store ..like ealmart or something

  91. Brittany Amaya says:

    I mean walmart

  92. Vicky Coleman says:

I have used ALL types of extensions as well. I personally(so far) prefer the sew in tracks in the past. (My hair WAS VERY long until recently a girl at a kiosk in the mall Burned it off 4 and 6 inches! by doing flat iron curls improperly) I dug out an old bundle f hair and made some clip ins, but my hair is thick and course so they do get caught in my natural hair when removing them. I would like to try this so I don’t have to remove and restore the extension hair each time. My question is… What is your regimen and thoughts for simple Co-Washing and SLEEPING in these? (since you said that they don’t stay as well when wet. Sorry for the ramble πŸ™‚ Or if you have a link to a video that I haven’t seen to answer please. TY

  93. Terra Herald says:

I love your videos. Could you tell me what type of camera you use for making your videos? I have a channel but no longer have a camera. Thanks!

  94. trista north says:

just wondering wouldn’t conditioner work just the same?

  95. Frances Melendez says:

love this love tape inns because of u thanks <3

  96. clipinqueen says:

I love Goo Gone and it is cheap! Also, acetone works great too. Great video

  97. nikki domingo says:

DIY TAPE IN REMOVERHi there πŸ™‚ I ran out of the remover solution and wanted my tape ins out tonight, now i don’t really recommend doing this unless you want them out asap because i don’t know how the chemicals will react to your hair but it worked for me after watching this video. I combined 2 parts Avocado Oil, and 1 part nail polish acetone free in a cup dipped my fingers in it rubbed it into the bond and they slid right out without stressing my hair or anything !! πŸ™‚ Like i say i don’t recommend it unless its an emergency but i couldn’t find a DIY solution anywhere so i thought i’d share what worked for me Also im sure any oil will work and any alcoholGood Luck! πŸ™‚

  98. Adriana Medina says:

I’m rocking my day tape in extensions they look and feel natural

  99. Patrick Polk says:

A great way to remove these without having all the steps and tackiness that you are having to go through……. I have been working with these extensions for about ten years, and am very familiar with the tape that you use ,because we do male and female hair replacement. That tape is prescribed to our guests to help them get through to the their next visit. Start by using straight 99% alcohol. You’re to saturate the subsection using a spray bottle. a towel around the neck will stop it from running further down the back, work your fingers back and forth to release the hair from the tape. Afterward, use the C-22 to remove any residual tape/bond. Shampoo with your favorite bond remover shampoo. If you find that you are experiencing further residue after these steps, I would use baby powder to absorb any other oils that may be left. where this can be a bit messy, the time that you save in your process, will allow you time to clean up. Love the vids keep them coming . Hugs and Tugs Michael-Patrick

I cant thank you enough! Your videos have helped me so much!. I ordered 2 rolls of the 3/8 inch tape and I think I will get the smaller one next time! I put 3 rows of hair (double weft & machine sewed) on some pieces and i think that was too much…I think you said that but i have really thin hair and tried any way. πŸ™‚ Tomorrow i will buy the C-22 the only other one the store had was $20 I felt like I had to come home and watch this video before I bought anything. I have only tried the Ion sulfur free shampoo and so far I like it! I only wash my hair once a week so for 6 days a week i have oily hair ( I do it so my red will last longer) and for this reason I do not think the tape will last as long for me πŸ™ Its been 2 weeks and I can feel the ends coming up and the ones with 3 rows are unsticking…. im sure my next time will turn out better or so I hope. well thats been my journey with tape in’s so far Thank you so much and can recommend good hair extensions please πŸ™‚ <3

Great video. My trick is to-Get a big bottle of alcohol from Sallys and put in a spay bottle. Saturate one weft at a time and 30 seconds later with a little tug it will slide off. When you are done do a super moist conditioner leave in for 15 minutes..comb hair with the conditioner still on and residue will be gone. Wash, dry and get ready for the next install. Super cheap and effective way.

What do I do I out my extensions in wrong, since it didn’t double side them! Will they come out before they are meant to?

  107. Christine Russo says:

Is it possible to just tape them in for a day or two? I Saw A Comment That Some Lady Called Her tape, “Day Tape” OR Is It Too Much To Get They Out For Just A day? Sorry about the caps

I heard when you use tape your hair doesn’t grow . Have you had that happen ? Because I’m trying to grow out my hair but still have long hair until my real hair gets long enough

I took out my tape extensions out tonight. I had the small ones in. I used the Walker weft release but it actually just took the hair off of the tape and that part slid out but the actual tape part was still stoke in my hair for all of them! Maybe I didn’t use enough of the weft release or let it sit on there long enough to actually loosen the tape part. I had to get coconut oil and work out each tape piece one by one. That was double the work. I’m not sure what I did wrong.I am sure that using the bigger wefts would be a bit easier.

hi I absolutely love your videos! they’re so helpful and give an honest opinion. I was wondering how long you should wait before re-taping your extensions. I’ve read that you should wait a month inbetween to give your scalp a rest but then other websites don’t give any time frame. I have very fine and thin hair so I don’t want to cause extra stress to my scalp. I also feel like my hair looks thicker where there is no extensions (maybe this is because im not blow drying my hair straight every day when I have the extensions in…. im not sure) just a background, my tape ins onky last about 30 days because I have a naturally oily scalp, there are usually a few pieces that have loosened so much that they are turning on themselves (1.5 in wefts).. and one more question, after removing the tape and washing the extensions, do you find that your wefts are still a little tacky when they’ve dried? I have tried so many methods of cleaning the tape off and with each one that are still a little sticky. thank you so much, you’re absolutely wonderful!

You are too cute. I find it selfless that you take the time to research and do so much work to find out all this stuff. It takes a long time to figure all these things out through trial and error. Thank you for the info. πŸ™‚

Do you think i could dye my hair with tape extensions in? o: my hair is purple and since I dyed it with a semipermanent dye it fades a little bit whenever I shower. I usually redye it once a month to freshen up the color, would tape extensions not be a good idea?:/

Hello, thank you for your videos, hey I don’t understand why you tape both sides of the weft…one tape side face your hair (and maybe your scalp), but what does the other side stickes to? to some of the hair that falls down? doesn’t this tangle when you brush? I’m sorry if I dont get it clear can you help me? and if I buy your h. ext. do they have the tape already or I have to remove clips and tape them? thank you again Miss Flirty
